Building training modules from your SOPs

Create educational modules from approved SOPs and policies: reading, quizzes, videos, evidence, practical observation and supervisor sign-off steps.

Training in Legion Diagnostics is always built on a controlled document, so staff are trained on the procedure that is actually in force. To find your modules, open "Training & competency", then "Educational module management", and list them by "Module" or by "Document".

Creating a module

Click "Create educational module" and pick the kind of document. In "Create Educational Module", enter a "Module name" and choose the approved, published document it teaches. If you have many documents, narrow the list by site group.

To make it a competency module, check "Grants / renews competency for selected analyzer(s) and analyte(s)", then choose the analyzers and analytes it covers. Only live analytes can be chosen. Policy modules teach a policy and never grant competency.

Steps

A module is a sequence of steps the trainee completes in order:

StepWhat happens
"Read the SOP"The trainee reads the document, optionally for a minimum time.
"Quiz"Questions on the document, with a passing score.
"Watch a video"A training video.
"Upload evidence"The trainee uploads proof, such as a certificate or worksheet.
"Practical observation"A supervisor watches the work against a checklist and records "Passed" or "Did not pass".
"Supervisor sign-off"A supervisor confirms the trainee is competent.
"Custom step"Anything else your lab requires.

A step can be completed once, or once per site group, lab area, analyzer or analyte the trainee works with. Choosing analyzer or analyte makes a competency module check each instrument or test separately. For supervisor steps you choose who may record them; see Completing training and supervisor sign-off.

Quizzes

For each quiz, set a "Passing score (%)" (80% unless you change it) and, optionally, "Max attempts" and a "Time limit". You also choose whether the trainee must read the document first, whether to "Randomize question order per attempt", and whether the AI assistant may be used during the quiz. Questions are single choice, multiple select, or true/false. To draft questions quickly, see Generating quiz questions with AI.

Publishing, revising and archiving

Steps can be added and changed only while a module is a draft. Publish it, usually by clicking "Publish and assign training", once it has at least one step and its document is effective. A published module is locked: click "Create revision" to make the next version, which copies the steps and quizzes. The current version stays in use until the revision is published.

When publishing, use "Authorization valid for (months)" to set how long the competency it grants lasts, and choose whether training is one-time or recurring.

Archiving a module removes its open assignments from My Queue. Completed training stays on each person's record, and an archived module can be restored.
