Assigning training to people, site groups and subspecialties
Assign training to individuals, site groups or subspecialties with due dates and recurring retraining; it lands in each person’s My Queue.
To assign a published module, open it and click "Assign training". To publish and assign in one step, click "Publish and assign training".
Who
Choose people one by one, assign by site group and subspecialty (everyone in Chemistry at one site, say), or mix the two. For organization-wide policies, choose everyone in the organization.
A competency module only proposes competency for people who belong to its site groups when they finish. If you include someone outside them, you are warned and choose what to do:
- add them to one of the module's site groups, then assign (offered if you can manage those site groups' members)
- assign them for training only, with no competency
Someone who works at a site should be a member of its site group anyway, so adding them is usually the right choice.
When
Set a "Due date", or set "Days to finish", counted from the day each person is assigned, which suits new staff. Choose whether the training repeats (for annual training) and whether people can start early.
What happens next
Once training is assigned:
- Each trainee gets a task in My Queue with the due date.
- Each supervisor named on a supervisor step gets their own task.
- Team progress shows what is overdue, due soon, open and completed across your teams, and "Waiting on a supervisor" lists training held up by a supervisor step.
Every assignment records why it exists: "Manual assignment", "Document revision refresh", "Recurring retraining" or the module's "Module audience".
When the document changes
When a new revision of the document becomes effective, open assignments on the old version are marked "Superseded" and the training is assigned again on the new version. A minor edit to a document does not reassign training.
