Completing training and supervisor sign-off

How trainees work through training steps and quizzes, and who may record practical observations and supervisor sign-off on someone’s training.

Trainees open their training from My Queue or "My modules" and work through the steps in order. Each step unlocks when the previous one is done. Steps for analyzers or analytes the person does not work with are marked not applicable.

Quizzes

Only the trainee can take their quiz, and they must reach the passing score before the step counts. The quiz's settings decide how many attempts they get, whether it is timed, and whether the AI assistant may be used during it.

Supervisor steps

A supervisor completes practical observations and supervisor sign-offs on the trainee's behalf, with the supervisor's own signature. The trainee sees what they will be assessed on and that the step is waiting for a supervisor.

When the module is built, each supervisor step says who may record it: anyone with a given role in the site group (a Site Manager by default, optionally higher roles too), or specific people anywhere in the organization.

In practice:

  • Trainees never record a supervisor step on their own training. The one exception is the Primary Site Administrator, who may record any supervisor step.
  • If specific people are named, only they may record it, while they remain active members.
  • If nobody is named, the Site Managers of that site group may record it, or the Primary Site Administrator if there are none.

When training is complete

Completed training goes on the person's personnel record. Completing a competency module proposes an analyte authorization for each analyte it covers. When steps were per analyte, only the analytes actually observed are proposed. Each authorization stays pending until someone signs it; see Analyte competency authorizations.
