Changing to a new QC lot
Run a new control lot beside the old one, establish its targets from a precision study or its own data, then finalize it to take over.
When a control lot is running out, choose "Replace QC lot" from the lot's menu. The new lot runs beside the one it replaces until it is finalized, so you can establish its targets without a gap in QC.
The changeover steps
A changeover shows its progress as steps. Only the steps that fit your chosen target route appear:
- QC lot added.
- Set up the plan.
- Collect QC data.
- Precision experiment.
- Analyze and sign.
- Apply targets.
- Finalize and sign.
While the lots run side by side, Westgard checks on the new lot are advisory: they flag problems but do not reject runs. The new lot inherits the old lot's assignees, and its SD can start from the previous lot's SD or CV until it has its own data.
Applying targets
Click "Propose targets" to see the targets from the precision study or the new lot's results, then click "Apply targets" and enter a reason.
Finishing
When the new lot is ready, click "Finalize & sign" to put it into effect and close the lot it replaces. A final report PDF records the changeover.
After a reagent lot change
When a reagent lot comparison passes, QC asks whether the control targets still fit. You can keep the current targets, with a reason, or propose and apply new ones.
