What the AI assistant can do for your lab

Set up analytes, plan studies, read uploaded data, draft SOPs and quizzes, explain QC and quality records, and produce reports with the assistant.

The assistant can read and act across Legion Diagnostics, within your own permissions. Here is what that looks like in each part of the lab.

Setup and the Test Directory

The assistant can add lab areas, analyzers and analytes, one at a time or many at once. It can read a package insert and pull out the manufacturer's performance claims, which are saved only after you agree to them. It can sort out a spreadsheet of analytes that would not import cleanly, then hand you a review screen to import from.

Validation studies

The assistant can plan a new study by asking one question at a time: the lab area, the analyzer, the analyte, the claims and the plan. It can create and update plans and experiments, compare past studies, and explain results.

When you drop a data file on a module page, the assistant reads it and fills in data entry for you to review. It does not save it: you check the values and click "Submit". If the file disagrees with the study plan, it asks you which to follow. It also points out values that look extreme, as advice only.

Documents and training

The assistant can draft SOPs, policies and other documents from your template and reference files. Drafting runs in the background, and you are told when it is done. It can edit drafts, set up signers and send approval reminders. It can also draft training quizzes for you to review and suggest who should be assigned training.

Quality and operations

The assistant can explain QC runs, Levey-Jennings charts, Westgard rules and Sigma. It can help with proficiency testing reviews, calibration verification, maintenance, reagent lots and temperature logs. It can work through quality events and suggest inspection evidence for you to approve. It can also manage site staffing, and receive, move and count inventory.

Reports and everyday work

The assistant can generate module reports, composite reports and audit trail PDFs. These are always unsigned, because signing happens in the app. It can also export data as CSV and look after your tasks, invitations and profile settings.

Where the numbers come from

Every statistic comes from the Legion Diagnostics statistical engine that runs when a module analyzes its data, and each calculation is recorded for audit. The assistant reports and explains those results. It does not calculate statistics itself, and it does not make up acceptance criteria: design values come from your plan, or it asks you.
