Site staffing: CLIA positions, staff and analyte coverage

See for every site who holds its CLIA positions, who works there, and whether each live analyte has enough staff authorized to run it.

Site staffing answers three questions for each CLIA site: who holds its required positions, who works there, and whether every live analyte has enough people authorized to run it. To open it, go to "Lab operations", then "Site staffing", next to "Inventory".

Legion Diagnostics never invents a staffing ratio. CLIA does not set one, so the checks are the hard requirements (required designations, the director limit, a supervisor for each specialty) plus targets your lab sets.

All sites at a glance

The first page lists one row per site group. For each site, you see:

  • the Lab Director and CLIA License Holder
  • how many staff work there and how many of them test
  • total FTE, analyzers and live analytes
  • coverage gaps and unfilled FTE against your targets
  • any flags

A missing director or license holder shows as "Not designated".

Search by site, director or license holder. To show only sites with flags, or to include closed sites, use "Filters". The list follows the site group and subspecialty chosen in the bar at the top of the app.

To set the number of authorized people every live analyte should have at every site, click "Actions", then "Coverage minimum". Leave it blank to flag only analytes that nobody is authorized to run.

One site

Click a site to open it. The site page has four tabs:

TabWhat it shows
"Overview"Headline numbers, what needs attention, the site's designations, and positions against targets.
"Roster"Who works at the site, in which position and at what FTE.
"Shifts"The shifts the site runs and who usually works each one.
"Analyte coverage"How many authorized people each live analyte has.

On every tab, use the "Actions" menu to add someone to the roster, add a shift, set a staffing target, or open the site's licensure and designations.

What needs attention

The "Needs attention" card lists every problem at the site with a button to fix it.

Red flags are requirements:

  • a required position nobody holds
  • a director over the CLIA limit
  • a specialty with no technical supervisor
  • no roster yet
  • live analytes nobody on the roster (or on a shift) can run

Amber flags are early warnings:

  • analytes below your coverage minimum
  • authorizations expiring within 30 days
  • a shift below its minimum testing staff
  • a position short of its target FTE

History

Every roster entry, shift, target and exception has its own audit trail, which you can download as a PDF. Archived items stay at the bottom of each tab and can be restored, and the restore is recorded too.
