Setting Up the Experiment
Before creating a precision experiment, configure your lab area, analyzers, analytes, TEa, and optional manufacturer claims in Lab Settings. Step-by-step instructions are in Setting up your Test Directory.
Creating the Experiment
When creating the precision experiment, you will select:
- Precision type — Simple (streamlined within-run assessment) or Complex (multi-day ANOVA variance-component analysis)
- Study type — In the product UI, Complex studies offer Verification or Validation options that map to short-term (EP15-A3) and long-term (EP05-A3) designs. Both short-term and long-term precision are routinely assessed in verification and validation workflows; choose the design that matches the variability components you need to characterize.
- Days, runs per day, and replicates per run — For Complex short-term, follow the EP15-A3 5 × 1 × 5 design; for Complex long-term, follow the EP05-A3 20 × 2 × 2 design
- Concentration levels — Both Simple and Complex Precision support multiple concentration levels (2 levels — low and high — recommended). Additional levels are optional to characterize precision across the reportable range. Each level is evaluated independently.
- Comparison method — Compare against manufacturer claims (populated from the package insert or entered manually) or evaluate against a TEa-derived allocation budget
- Optional metadata — You may record the operator (the person performing the experiment), calibrator, and reagent lot. This information is retained in the report for traceability.
