Interpreting Your Results

This section describes how to read the result displays. Formal definitions of metrics are in the Definitions tab; calculation details are in the Statistical Guidelines tabs.

Simple Precision Summary Table

For each concentration level, review Observed Mean, Observed SD, Observed CV%, the 95% CI for Observed SD, Allowable Imprecision, Goal SD, and Status. Focus on whether Observed SD meets Goal SD and whether the confidence interval is narrow enough for a conclusive Pass/Fail (or Uncertain when the goal falls inside the CI).

Complex Precision Summary Table

For each concentration level, Complex Precision reports variance components with df, SD, CV%, and 95% CI for CV%. Short-term designs report Within-Run and Within-Laboratory; long-term designs also report Between-Run and Between-Day.

Pass/Fail compares Within-Laboratory CV% to either the TEa-based Allocation Budget CV% or the manufacturer-claim UVL (F × Claimed CV%), depending on your comparison method. See Definitions for UVL.

CV% Comparison Chart

The bar chart visually compares the Within-Laboratory CV% (or Observed CV% for Simple Precision) against the Goal or manufacturer claim for each concentration level. A bar below the reference line indicates acceptable precision; bars exceeding it indicate a failure requiring investigation.

Levey-Jennings Chart

The Levey-Jennings chart plots standardized results (SDI) in the order they were generated during the precision study. Each point shows how far a result deviates from the reference mean, in units of standard deviation. Use it to inspect the study sequence for gradual shifts, clustering, or isolated extreme points that may indicate instrument instability or procedural issues during data collection.

This chart is a study-review aid, not a substitute for Westgard-style multi-rule QC used once an assay is in routine use. Suspect extreme points should be evaluated with statistical outlier criteria appropriate for repeatability measurements. If a point meets exclusion criteria and a documented, valid reason supports removal, mark it excluded in the platform with justification before re-running analysis — exclusion is driven by those criteria and documentation, not by visual judgment alone.
