Live and experimental analytes
Mark an analyte live when it is in clinical use. Live analytes drive QC, proficiency testing, calibration verification, training and staffing coverage.
Every analyte in the test directory is either experimental or live. Experimental analytes are being set up or validated. Live analytes are in clinical use for patient testing.
Marking an analyte live
Choose "Mark live" from the analyte's menu, or open the analyte and set "Clinical status" to "Live (clinical use)". The "Mark analyte live?" check lists the assay details: the "Assay method", "Reagent strategy" and "Reagent product / kit" must be recorded before an analyte can go live.
Only people allowed to set analytes live can change the status. By default, that means managers. Your Primary Site Administrator can grant it to other roles in access control.
An analyte added with all of its assay details starts live if you are allowed to set analytes live. Otherwise, it stays experimental until someone who is allowed marks it live.
An analyzer shows as "Live" when at least one of its analytes is live.
What live status changes
Live status affects several areas:
- Quality control runs only on live analytes.
- Proficiency testing, calibration verification, maintenance and reagent lot schedules offer only live analytes and their analyzers.
- Training authorizations to run a test are given for live analytes.
- Site staffing checks competency coverage for every live analyte.
- Validation studies work with either status, so you can verify a new test before it goes live.
Setting an analyte back to experimental pauses new work on it without deleting anything recorded so far.
