Adding analytes to an analyzer from the catalog or by hand

Add analytes from the Legion Diagnostics platform catalog with fluid, units and TEa filled in, or enter quantitative and qualitative tests by hand.

Add analytes on an analyzer's page in the test directory. Click "Add", then "Single analyte" to add one test, or "Multiple analytes" to add several.

Picking from the catalog

The picker starts with the analytes the platform catalog maps to your instrument. To see everything, click "Browse full catalog". Each catalog entry shows its "Name", "Fluid Type", "Unit", "Default TEa", "Source", "Type" and "Bio Variation". Analytes already on the analyzer are marked "Added".

Picking an entry copies its name, fluid, units, total allowable error (TEa), biological variation and the source of the TEa onto your analyte. It is a copy, so later catalog updates never change an analyte you have already added, and your records stay as you approved them.

Entering an analyte by hand

If a test is not in the catalog, click "Manual Entry", then choose "Quantitative" or "Qualitative". A quantitative analyte needs an "Analyte", "Fluid", "Units" and "Allowable Error". A qualitative analyte needs only its name.

Assay details and documents

Before saving, you can also record the "Assay method", "Assay temperature", "Reagent strategy", "Reagent product / kit" and the primary and secondary collection tubes. An analyte needs these details before it can be marked live (see Live and experimental analytes).

Two questions finish the form. For "Include manufacturer claims", you can upload the package insert and, if you like, let the assistant read the performance claims from it (see Extracting manufacturer claims from a package insert). For "Include other supporting documents", you can attach up to 10 PDFs.

Adding many at once

Click "Add", then "Multiple analytes" to tick several catalog analytes, review them in one table (fixing anything a row is missing), and add them together. You can also upload a spreadsheet; see Importing analytes from a CSV. Analytes added this way start as experimental.

An analyte is never added twice: the same name with the same allowable error on one analyzer is refused.

Changing an analyte later

Click an analyte's row to open "Edit Analyte", where its details, package insert, manufacturer claims and other files are kept. Use the "Audit trail" column to see every change and the plans, experiments, SOPs and training linked to the analyte.
