Visual Analysis Guidelines

Visual Analysis

Two complementary visualizations are provided to support interpretation of method agreement:

Confusion Matrix

A cross-tabulation table displaying the distribution of results comparing the test method to the reference method. Rows represent reference method results; columns represent test method results. Diagonal cells — highlighted in green — show specimens where both methods agreed. Off-diagonal cells show discordant specimens and their classification on each method.

Bubble Chart

A visual representation of the confusion matrix where each cell is shown as a bubble scaled to the number of specimens in that cell. Green bubbles indicate agreement (diagonal cells). Yellow bubbles indicate 1-level disagreement (adjacent off-diagonal cells). Red bubbles indicate 2 or more levels of disagreement. This visualization makes the pattern and magnitude of discordance easy to assess at a glance.

When custom result codes or numeric cutoffs are configured, a Configured Cutoffs table is also displayed, summarizing the level boundaries and report labels defined for each method. This serves as an audit record confirming which classification rules were applied to the data.
