Interpreting Your Results

Analysis Results Table

The table shows five columns for each specimen:

ColumnWhat It Shows
Sample IDThe specimen identifier as entered.
Analyzer PTThe ProTime value reported by the analyzer — used as input to the recalculation.
Analyzer INRThe INR value actually reported by the analyzer — what is being verified.
Calculated INRThe INR independently computed using: (Analyzer PT / Normal Patient Mean PT)^ISI, rounded to match the analyzer INR's decimal places.
StatusCorrect (green) if Analyzer INR matches Calculated INR within ±1 unit in the last decimal place; Incorrect (red) otherwise.

Interpreting All Correct vs. Any Incorrect

All specimens Correct (Accuracy = 100%): The analyzer's programmed ISI and Normal Patient Mean PT match the values entered in this study. The analyzer is correctly configured and may be used for patient reporting with confidence that its INR calculation is accurate.

Any specimen Incorrect: The analyzer's programmed parameters do not match the reference values. The analyzer should not be used for patient testing until the programming error is identified and corrected. Common next steps:

  • Compare the ISI and Normal Patient Mean PT entered in this study against the values currently programmed in the analyzer's software. A discrepancy in either value will cause all specimens to be marked Incorrect.
  • Verify the ISI value directly from the current reagent lot's package insert — do not carry over the ISI from a previous lot.
  • Confirm the Normal Patient Mean PT from the most recent Geometric Mean & VRI study performed on this reagent lot and this specific analyzer.
  • After correcting the programming, re-run the Manual INR Check to confirm that all specimens now pass before resuming patient testing.
